Restoration 1975-1984

The Restoration of Iffley Church 1975-1984

Fig. 1 Bird and Snake, South door IffleyThis account of the Restoration of Iffley Church carried out over the nine years between 1975 and 1984 has been recorded as an historical record which may be of some value to those who have an interest in this church, founded over 800 years ago and widely acknowledge to be one of the finest Norman Romanesque parish churches in England. In particular the sections and appendices dealing with the administration and fundrasinig and with the technical details of the repair methods and materials used may  be of special value to those who will be responsible for restoration work in the future, for in spite of the extensive work done in the period of this report, there will inevitably be a need for a continuing programme of restoration over the years.
